Volleyball - RULES/POLICIES

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP IS REQUIRED OF ALL.  Yelling at members of the officiating crew, talking poorly about other individuals, teams, or clubs, etc. will not be tolerated.  If you have even a shred of doubt about whether or not something is appropriate, don’t do it.

NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK IS PERMITTED IN RALIA SPORTS CENTER.  The only exception to this rule is water.  If players wish to bring water bottles into the facility, this is permitted.  Parents, please do not bring in coffee mugs.  We are working very hard to provide great concessions.  You can expect us to have our full menu available and fast service throughout the weekend.

SHOES WORN OUTSIDE ARE NOT TO BE WORN WHEN ON THE SPORT COURT.  ALSO, NO FOOD, DRINK (OTHER THAN WATER) OR GUM IS PERMITTED ON THE SPORT COURT.  The court is obviously a tile surface.  If food, drink, or dirt is is ground/spilled in its cracks, it is very difficult to clean.

PLAYERS AND COACHES SHOULD ‘NEST’ BEHIND THE BOARDS ONLY.  The spectator’s area can be very crowded and must be cleared of gear bags, jackets, etc.  Spectators are asked to keep their jackets, etc. clear of the walkway.

SPECTATORS AND PARTICIPANTS WAITING TO PLAY CAN NOT STAND OR SIT ON THE SPORT COURT SURFACE.  The entire court surface is playable area.  If you sit on the sport court, you may inadvertently disrupt play.

BEFORE LEAVING, PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF.  Coaches: Please have your team clean up the area in which they nested before leaving.

TEAMS MUST BRING THEIR OWN WARM-UP BALLS, FIRST AID SUPPLIES AND WHISTLES.

OFFICIATING REQUIREMENTS:
In our region this season, coaches (or an adult registered with USAV who has been to an officials’ clinic) will be required to control the match as one of the referees within all age groups.  At the 12s level, the first referee must be the coach (or an adult registered with USAV who has been to an officials’ clinic).  Coaches and players are required to attend an officials’ clinic before officiating.  The officiating team must provide a first referee, second referee, scorekeeper, libero tracker, scoreboard operator, and two line judges.  If team members need a refresher on how to keep score, there is a on-line power point presentation/tutorial at http://www.ncrusav.org/ncrofficials/scoreclinic.asp

We thank each player, coach, and spectator for helping contribute to the success of our events through following these guidelines.
